Information about Boards and Commissions
City government depends heavily on residents who volunteer their time and energy to participate as members of boards and commissions. The involvement of residents is important to setting the direction of Marble Falls’ future.
Qualifications for Appointment
The Marble Falls’ Home Rule Charter establishes that all members of city boards and commission must be residents of Marble Falls, a registered voter of the City and shall not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or liability due the City. Members of MFEDC Board may also be a resident of Burnet County who resides within ten (10) miles of the corporate City limits boundary.
Selection Process
Members of boards and commissions are appointed by the Mayor and City Council. Board and commission members are appointed by City Council majority vote.
In most cases board members may serve no more than two consecutive terms on a board and may serve on only one board or commission at the same time
Any member who is absent from three regularly scheduled meetings is subject to removal
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS:
Animal Control Advisory Commission
The Animal Control Advisory Commission advises the City on the promulgation of animal control ordinances, procedures of enforcement and the administration of the ordinances and procedures.

- Six (6) members; the City Manager, Chief of Police, Animal Control Officer City Health Officer, a local veterinarian and a representative of the Hill Country Humane Society.

Construction Advisory and Appeals Board
The Construction Advisory and Appeals Board makes recommendations to the City Council for improvement and revision of codes as it may from time to time deem necessary. Construction Advisory and Appeals Board has no authority to waive the requirements of the International Building Code. A building owner may appeal a decision of the City's Building Official to the board where the decision concerns the building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, energy and fire prevention codes.

- Nine (9) members each serving a two (2) year term; architect, commercial building contractor, residential building contractor, master electrical contractor, HVAC contractor, master plumber, two (2) citizens, and one commercial business owner.
Ethics Review Commission
The Ethics Review Commission has jurisdiction over ethics complaints involving city officials and city employees. The commission has the authority to review and investigate complaints filed in accordance with the ethics review policy.

Impact Fee Advisory Committee
The Impact Fee Advisory Committee’s role is to work with the consultant and provide recommendations regarding adoption of the impact fees to the City Council.

- Comprised of the members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and an additional representative of the extra-territorial jurisdiction.

Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation (MFEDC)
The Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation is a 4B nonprofit corporation. The purpose of the corporation is to promote, assist, and enhance economic development.
- Meets first Wednesdays at noon.
- Seven (7) members who are residents or residents of Burnet County that reside within ten (10) miles of the corporate limits of the City, who serve staggered two-year terms. (Four (4)of the seven (7) members cannot be employees, officers or members of the governing body of the City.)

Parks and Recreation Commission (P&R)
The Parks and Recreation Department interfaces with the Parks and Recreation Commission; which serves in an advisory capacity and makes recommendations to the City Council concerning the acquisition, maintenance, operation and use of parks and open spaces within the city.
- Meets first Mondays at noon.
- Seven (7) members serving staggered two-year terms.

Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z)
The Planning and Zoning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on rezoning requests, platting and subdivision of land within and in the ETJ of the City, changes to the Subdivision Regulations, requests for variances, special exceptions, and changes and appeals to the Land Use Regulations. The commission also makes recommendations to the City Council on matters relating to the Comprehensive Plan and changes thereto.
- Meets on first Thursday at 6:00 pm
- Seven (7) members serving staggered two-year terms.

- Click here to view the bylaws. (Please note that the original bylaws were amended by Ordinance 95-O-3 on March 14, 1995). The bylaws were amended again in 1998 (98-O-2D) changing the number of commissioners from five to seven.
