The Texas Public Information Act gives the public the right to request access to government information.  It shall be the policy of the City of Marble Falls to comply with the provisions of the Texas Public Information Act.  The City of Marble Falls shall also strive to provide excellent customer service in dealing with request for public information.

All information that is collected, assembled or maintained by or for the City of marble Falls that is deemed public information under the Texas Public Information Act shall be made available to the public during normal business hours according to our policy.

The Texas Public Information Act applies only to information that already exists.

The Texas Public Information Act provides certain exceptions to disclosure of information that is considered confidential by law.  Some common examples of confidential information are: 
  
  • Names, addresses, phone numbers of peace officers
  • Juvenile records
  • Certain personnel information
  • Pending Cases

A request for public information must be submitted in writing.  These requests must be made via fax, e-mail, mail or in person.  Requests must provide the following information: 

  • The requestor's name and address
  • The requestor's telephone number
  • A clear description of the information being sought
If the department contact cannot identify the records based on the request, the requestor may be asked to clarify the request.
